The Activity Bank

The GIVE Activity Bank is a resource bank of short activities or skill-based tasks that already include supports and accommodations to meet a range of students’ needs. These activities can be easily added to your lesson—with small adjustments for your unique students and classroom—to make it more inclusive.

These activities have been submitted as is by New York City Teaching Artists from New Victory Theater, ArtsConnection, and Community-Word Project.

  • I Am – Anaphora Poem

    Ages: Early Childhood (PK-2), Upper Elementary (3-5), Middle School (6-8), High School (9-12)
    Art Forms: Literary Arts, Theater, Visual Arts

    Goal: Students will learn about themselves and each others, using a new form of poetry - Anaphora Poems.

  • I Like to Move It (Move It)

    Ages: Early Childhood (PK-2), Upper Elementary (3-5), Middle School (6-8), High School (9-12)
    Art Forms: Music, Theater

    Goal: To practice matching sound with movement. To work in collaboration with a team member. 

  • If I Were an Animal

    Ages: Early Childhood (PK-2)
    Art Forms: Dance, Theater, Visual Arts

    Goal: Make students aware of different sounds in the natural world and use imagination to produced/act them

  • Legato Staccato Name Game

    Ages: Upper Elementary (3-5), Middle School (6-8)
    Art Forms: Music

    Goal: This is a warm up that reinforces learning each other's names and teaches the vocabulary and concept of Legato and Staccato.

  • Make a wave

    Ages: Upper Elementary (3-5)
    Art Forms: Dance

    Goal: To strengthen social/emotional skills in the classroom by celebrating individual and shared experiences throw dance

  • Mini Scavenger Hunt

    Ages: Middle School (6-8), High School (9-12)
    Art Forms: Visual Arts

    Goal: To build class community by working together in small groups, and learn about each other through the scavenger hunt.

  • Moving Objects

    Ages: Upper Elementary (3-5), Middle School (6-8)
    Art Forms: Media Arts

    Goal: To introduce stop-motion animation techniques that can make an object appear as if it is moving on its own.

  • Names and Weather Patterns
